For Michigan posters...there are 6 positions viable as per a previous poster (thanks for that information btw).
My guess is they had approximately 250-350 Cat "A" applicants (extrapolated from 4,000 Cat A in the U.S. for the Feb/2010 hiring). With Michigan having so many veterans, I don't hold out much hope that they aren't interviewing them right now. If you're not a veteran, there is probably little chance you will receive an interview. If you are a veteran, and haven't heard anything by now...chances are you weren't selected for this round. I hope I'm wrong...I hope to see the handful of Michigan people post happy news here...but I've pretty much given up hope that any of us were selected for an interview in this hiring round. |

Hello everyone:
I'm a long time follower and since I am appreciative of all of the helpful information posted, I figured I would add whatever I can to help as well. I am a candidate for the Feb 2010 hiring. I am Cat. A, non vet. I was called on Monday of this week for an interview in Milwaukee, WI, on Wednesday. I was pretty nervous about the interview since I've been trying to become an RO for around a year now. After having gone through the interview, I can tell you that it's not very complicated. If you're lucky enough to get a call for the interview, stay calm and you'll be fine. The panel (2 people for me, with one on the phone) was very nice. Other info: My recruiter informed me that if you get a call for the interview, you're usually one of two or three that is interviewed for the position. He then told me that it can take 2-3 weeks before I hear anything else. I'm nervously waiting. Good luck everyone. |

Welcome din, thanks for sharing your interview experience! Now another part of the waiting game, hope you get a conditional offer. Some of us on this thread have been applying for a second time and some have applied more. I wish you good luck!

For those wondering about South Florida, I received the call/email for an interview today (well, yesterday now). I have an appointment for 8:00 am Monday in Plantation, FL - for Deerfield Beach, FL POD.

Mdowling56 and krisb:
Good luck in your interviews! Mdowling56, you are in Southern Cali right? Not to much representation from California on this thread. I'm sure you've read all the interview posts from this thread and the August one, so you should be fine. Mdowling, how many people are they hiring at your PODS?

To be honest, I have no idea how many they are hiring. The interview was somewhat like i expected, its very structured and somewhat dry. I am a little disappointing that I didn't get more of a chance to express my personality more, i feel like that was something that was my greatest strength coming into this. I have a question though for anyone who might able to answer it... Given that we have very little knowledge of procedure, how do they judge the responses to the questions? I'm a little down on myself right now because while i dont think i did horribly, I know that there are a couple of suggestions, or options that i just blanked out on while i was answering the questions. That being said, I do think i answered them fairly logically and thoughtfully... so lets hope that's enough. anyway, now its time to hurry up and wait i guess.... Fingers crossed! |

I think they look for someone who can think quickly and make rational decisions in the interview. If you are an external candidate, you don't have working knowledge of procedures and policy. You need to demonstrate the ability to gauge a situation and react appropriately, especially when it comes to your safety. I found the assessment really helpful in my thinking, when I answered the interview questions. It's easy to second guess yourself, I'm sure you did great! Good luck, it will probably be 2 or 3 weeks before they start sending offers via email.
