Anyone have any comments in regards to the hiring process? I wanted to know about the mobility agreement, and how often they move Special Agents around? Is it possible to settle down and buy a house?

I am in the hiring process right now for USSS special agent. You will move around with USSS. I was basically told during my initial interview that it works like this.
1. You will not be assigned your hometown if selected. 2. You will spend 3-5 years at your first duty location 3. You will then spend around 5-7 years working a Washington DC protective detail and a headquarters assignment 4. After that, you will move once again to a location outside of DC depending on the needs of the agency It is possible to buy a house as all of the moves except the first one are paid moves, meaning the government will buy your house from you. Now settling down is a different issue. The job is very demanding and you will not be at one location for your entire career. Edited by JayhawkFan - 28 Jul 2010 at 6:14pm |

According to the USSS announcement, they accept the results of any previous TEA exams. I've taken the ICE S/A exam and was told that it's based on the TEA, would this suffice?

No, from what I have read on other forums. If you have taken the TEA exam for another agency such as the IRS SA, or ATF, then that counts. |

Anyone know if the SS's Criminal Research Spec work is any different than any of the other LEO agencies work? The duties make it sound like you'd need a PhD and be superman to do all that stuff.
